Ego

It's amazing how even a little bit of power or money or influence can sometimes affect people, even other lawyers.

When I look at some of these big-headed people and lawyers, I think to myself: outside of your little bubble, do people even know who you are? If you walked down the street in some random place, even somewhere else in this state, let alone anywhere else in the world, you would be unknown. A hundred years from now, no one will care that you were a supposed big shot in your tiny little field of work.

It's within this context and perspective that, although I will always endeavor to have a healthy due respect for opposing attorneys and opposing parties, I'm really not impressed when ego is on display. Typically, the bigger the ego, the smaller the self-esteem.
