A Perfect 10
Just 10 days ago, on Tuesday, January 19th, I began work at the law firm of Spear Wilderman, P.C. It's been a great 10 days so far.
The opportunity to work here came unexpectedly not more than a month ago. After some serious reflection, both in terms of my career and professional development and also especially in the context of my responsibilities to my family, I came to the conclusion that this was the right decision for my family and me.
I will continue to practice primarily in family law, which has been my bread-and-butter for more than a decade. But I'm also excited with the prospect of using my ability to communicate in Spanish even more by phasing in some work in the area of immigration law -- which also happens to be the field of my first internship during law school (at Nationalities Service Center).
I'm also happy to be joining a union-side labor law firm. Much of my volunteer work in college and in my early years post-college was direct outreach to workers -- from migrant farmworkers in the Gettysburg area to Christmas tree workers in the mountains of north-central Pennsylvania to the mushroom workers in and around Kennett Square, PA. The opportunity to join a firm with a focus on workers is a positive one.
