Don't Give Up, Or Quit

"So let's not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don't give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all." -- Galatians 6:9-10, The Message

You'll note that in the quote above it doesn't say "at the time that we want we will harvest a good crop." It says "at the right time." Have faith, my friends. Keep doing good, even when the shit is flying around you. You may not harvest a good crop right now today as a result of your good deeds, but you will do so "at the right time." Have faith.

I say this to the parents involved in custody disputes, where they're doing the right thing, but the other parent is constantly undermining you. Keep being a good parent; don't lose faith! As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "the time is always right to do what is right."

I also say this to the lawyers, both in my field and beyond, where the power of competition can tempt and mislead you. Resist that temptation by always doing what is right. In the words of Spike Lee: "do the right thing."

In either case, (and for everyone else too), "let's not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good." In fact, let it wake you up and make you feel alive, knowing that you'll "harvest a good crop." The key is "don't give up, or quit." Stay strong and have faith.

Have a great weekend, Philadelphia!
